More than 230 sustainability labels are on the market. How is anyone supposed to keep track?
Siegelklarheit assesses the credibility and sustainability of existing labels.
In the label directory, you can see which labels are particularly demanding and recommended. You will find labels with overall ratings of "Good choice" or "Very good choice" for quick guidance. If there are multiple evaluated labels in a product group, you can compare them directly.
Which product groups are covered on Siegelklarheit?
Currently, we assess sustainability labels from the following product groups:
- Laptops & Co.
Includes computers, desktop computers, PCs, monitors, laptops/notebooks, keyboards, headsets - Leather
Includes leather sofas, armchairs, leather shoes, sneakers, leather bags - Mobile phones
Smartphones - Natural stone
Includes flooring, marble slabs, granite slabs, terrace slabs, stone slabs, building blocks, gravestones - Paper
Includes printer paper, copy paper, envelopes, notepads, paper towels/kitchen rolls, toilet paper - Textiles
Includes clothing / fashion, baby clothing, towels, bed linen - Laundry and cleaning products
Includes dishwashing detergent, laundry detergent, toilet cleaners, cleaning agents
Missing a label?
There can be several reasons:
- It does not belong to one of the listed product groups.
- The label cannot be found on consumer products.
- It does not yet meet Siegelklarheit’s minimum requirements.
- The label has not provided data for assessment on Siegelklarheit.
New labels are added continuously, and additional product groups (e.g., food) are being included.

Who is behind Siegelklarheit?
Siegelklarheit is an initiative of the Verbraucherzentrale Nordrhein-Westfalen (Consumer Association of North Rhine-Westphalia) and is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development launched Siegelklarheit in 2015 to support fair and sustainable production conditions worldwide.
