For standard organisations
Are you a standard-setting or label-issuing organisation and would like your label to be mapped on Siegelklarheit?
We are very pleased about your interest!
- Your label must meet certain requirements in order to be included on Siegelklarheit.
- The label assessment process follows a clear, transparent, and comprehensible procedure.
We would like to share some information on the conditions under which a label can be featured on Siegelklarheit and how the general admission process works.
Requirements for including a label on Siegelklarheit
Siegelklarheit generally features voluntary sustainability standards (VSS). Such standards label products that are produced in an environmentally and/or socially responsible manner, help consumers make informed purchasing decisions, and promote responsible business practices.
Labels that are unrelated to sustainability are not represented on Siegelklarheit.
The overarching goal of Siegelklarheit is to promote sustainable consumption by providing end consumers with reliable information that is as comprehensive as possible. This enables them to make informed and more sustainable purchasing choices.
Siegelklarheit primarily focuses on consumer labels or product labels – that is, labels that are directly aimed at consumers and visible on the product. Additionally, your label must be assignable to a product group that is currently featured on Siegelklarheit.
If you cannot find a suitable product group on Siegelklarheit, please contact us at kontakt@siegelklarheit.de or via the contact form. We are continuously working to expand the product groups listed on Siegelklarheit.
If your label meets the specified requirements, it can be evaluated by Siegelklarheit:
- Your label is a sustainability label.
- Your label is visible to end consumers on products.
- Your label can be assigned to a product group that is already assessed on Siegelklarheit.
The subsequent steps of the admission process are explained in the following section.

How does the inclusion of your label work?
The admission process for a label, including its assessment, is described below and illustrated in the figure.
To assess your label for inclusion, we will send you a questionnaire in which you can provide all relevant information about your label.
- After a positive review, Siegelklarheit first contacts the International Trade Centre (ITC), which, as a neutral body, coordinates the collection and verification of your standard data.
- Provided you agree to the inclusion of your label in the ITC Standards Map, you supply the required information and documentation.
- The ITC collects and evaluates this information, partly with the support of external evaluators, and conducts feedback rounds with you if necessary.
- After the ITC has completed quality assurance of the data, you confirm the final dataset for your standard.
- Siegelklarheit then performs an additional quality check on the raw data, in consultation with the ITC and you if necessary.
- Finally, your label is evaluated using the Sustainability Standards Comparison Tool (SSCT) by Siegelklarheit.
- You will then receive the final evaluation preview before the inclusion is officially confirmed and communicated.
