The label identifies textiles that have been produced without chemicals that are hazardous to health and in compliance with high environmental standards. The products must also have good usage properties.
The standard is issued by the Federal Ministry for the Environment. The Federal Environment Agency provides the Blue Angel office and develops the criteria. The independent Eco-label Jury decides on the criteria. RAL GmbH, a subsidiary of German Institute for Quality Assurance and Certification, awards the Blue Angel.
The label for textiles is based on the award criteria DE-UZ 154. The label sets requirements for the entire production process and covers both natural and synthetic fibre textiles. All requirements must be met directly.
