Aim/ Focus The Bioland trademark stands for animal welfare, biodiversity and climate-friendly agriculture originating in Germany or South Tyrol. The aim of the association is to protect the natural foundations of life on earth and to promote the transformation of the agriculture and food industry to ecological criteria. Bioland has strict guidelines, for example, on the promotion of biodiversity and the rearing of male chicks in laying hen husbandry. Good to know... The Bioland standards regulate agricultural production, animal husbandry and processing. They require compliance with the EU organic regulation for the EU organic label but go beyond this with their own requirements. They also ensure progressive, transparent and ethical farming and food management. Producers or processors who meet these requirements are allowed to use the Bioland trademark. Compliance with the guidelines is checked at least once a year by state-approved, independent inspection bodies.
