Blue Angel - Paper

The Blue Angel is a state-owned environmental label. The award criteria are developed by the German Federal Environmental Agency involving all relevant interest groups. The decision-making body “Jury Umweltzeichen” decides on the award criteria. The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) owns the label. Products with the Blue Angel label fulfill high environmental, health and functional requirements . Paper products with the Blue Angel label need to be produced from 100% waste paper. Additional requirements for chemical use have to be fulfilled. The assessment is based on the criteria document for recycled paper (RAL-ZU 14, Edition July 2014) which relates to office and administration paper, print and press paper, as well as school books, note pads, coloring books, calendars, envelopes, manuals, billheads, posters, photo works envelopes and masking paper.
