EU Ecolabel - Paper
The EU Ecolabel is owned by the European Commission. The European Union Eco-labelling Board (EUEB) with representatives of each EU member state as well as industry, environmental and consumer associations is responsible for the label. It aims at helping consumers to identify environmentally friendly products. For paper products, the EU Ecolabel indicates that water and air pollution is reduced during the production process, compared to non-certified products. The use of recycled fibers is not a necessary requirement. The assessment is based on the EU resolution on copy paper and graphic paper (2011/332/EU) referring to sheets and rolls of white paper and cardboards that are neither assembled nor printed and weigh up until 4000 g/m².
