Nordic Swan Ecolabel - Paper

The Nordic Ecolabel is the official ecolabel in the Nordic countries (Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Iceland). The Nordic Ecolabelling Board has representatives from all five countries and defines the award criteria. An office in each country is responsible for licensing and inspection. Award criteria are identical in all five countries. The Nordic Ecolabel aims at promoting sustainable consumption. Paper products awarded with the label preserve resources such as water and air during production. At least 30% of fibres need to originate from certified sustainable forestry and the remaining part from legal sources. The analysis is based on the following documents: Paper Products - Basic Module (version 2.1), Paper Products - Chemical Module (version 2.3) und Copy and printing paper – Supplementary Module (044, version 4.1). All requirements need to be fulfilled in order to label a product.
