Information for standard organisations

Are you a label-issuing organisation and would like your label to be mapped on Siegelklarheit? Here you can learn, how the general admission process works.

  • Your label must meet certain requirements to be included on Siegelklarheit.
  • The label assessment process follows a clear, transparent, and comprehensible procedure.
  • Here you will find some information on the conditions under which a label can be featured on Siegelklarheit and how the general admission process works.

What are the requirements for including a label on Siegelklarheit?

Siegelklarheit generally features voluntary sustainability standards (VSS). Such standards label products that are produced in an environmentally and/or socially responsible manner, help consumers make informed purchasing decisions, and promote responsible business practices.

Labels that are unrelated to sustainability are not represented on Siegelklarheit.

The overarching goal of Siegelklarheit is to promote sustainable consumption by providing end consumers with reliable information that is as comprehensive as possible. This enables them to make informed and more sustainable purchasing choices.

Siegelklarheit primarily focuses on consumer labels or product labels – that is, labels that are directly aimed at consumers and visible on the product. Additionally, your label must be assignable to a sector (e.g., textiles, paper, computers etc.) for which a sector-specific criteria set already exists on Siegelklarheit (see download section).

How does the admission of your label work?

The admission process for a label, including its assessment, is described below and illustrated in the figure.

  • Siegelklarheit first contacts the International Trade Centre (ITC), which, as a neutral body, coordinates the collection and verification of your standard data.
  • Provided you agree to the inclusion of your label in the ITC Standards Map, you supply the required information and documentation.
  • The ITC collects and evaluates this information, partly with the support of external evaluators, and conducts feedback rounds with you if necessary.
  • After the ITC has completed quality assurance of the data, you confirm the final dataset for your standard.
  • Siegelklarheit then performs an additional quality check on the raw data, in consultation with the ITC and you if necessary.
  • Finally, your label is evaluated using the Sustainability Standards Comparison Tool (SSCT) by Siegelklarheit.
  • Siegelklarheit informs you of the assessment result before your label is published on the portal.
