XertifiX regularly reviews factories and quarries in India, China and Vietnam to ensure that the standard criteria are met: the standard includes the ILO's core labor agreements, including the prohibition of child labor and slavery, better protection of the health and safety of adult workers, fair Wages and working hours, environmental protection and legality. If the requirements are met, XertifiX issues certificates for the stones.
XertifiX is an NGO that fights for better working conditions and environmental protection in the Asian stone sector. XertifiX, based in Hanover, has around 50 members, an honorary board of directors and a full-time managing director. For the so-called "third-party audits", XertifiX commissions auditors in India, China and Vietnam to monitor the supply chains.
XertifiX label carries out unannounced third-party audits in Asian quarries and factories. XertifiX understands its audits not only as a "checking instrument", but also and above all as important, long-term building blocks for improving the working conditions of workers and environmental protection.
