The Responsible Down Standard aims to ensure that the ducks and geese from which down is obtained are kept in accordance with various animal welfare criteria - for example, no live animals are de-feathered and there is no force-feeding.
The label is provided by the NGO "Textile Exchange". It was founded in Texas, USA, in 2002 and has members from more than 25 countries. Companies from the entire textile supply chain are represented.
The label only addresses the aspect of animal welfare. It does not make any further statements on environmental or social aspects.
