The Biocyclic Vegan Quality Label identifies products from biocyclic vegan agriculture, a specific approach of organic farming according to purely plant-based principles. This form of cultivation excludes any commercial livestock keeping and slaughter of animals and does not use any inputs of animal origin. Special emphasis is placed on the promotion of biodiversity and a healthy soil life, on the closing of nutrient cycles and on a systematic humus development. The consumer receives the guarantee that products awarded with this label have been produced and processed according to organic and vegan principles.
The owners of the Biocyclic Vegan Quality Label have transferred their rights to the non-profit "Adolf Hoops Society for the Promotion of the Biocyclic Idea" in order to ensure the long-term, not for profit use of the label. Currently, the label is administered under licence by Biocyclic Vegan Label Ltd. (BNL) based in Cyprus.
The prerequisite for the award of the label is a successful farm inspection and certification according to the Biocyclic Vegan Standard recognised by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) conducted by an accredited organic inspection body. The criteria of the label require compliance with the EU Organic Regulation for the EU organic label, but go beyond this with their own requirements.
